WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
We are looking for a Product Counsel to join our team on our mission to fundamentally reimagine the way businesses work. We are building solutions to help our customers power their most critical business processes and manage content across every user, device, and application. We are developing innovative solutions that deliver delightful customer experiences, frictionless security, seamless collaboration, and integrate with other applications. Developing innovative products requires innovative product counseling, and that’s where you come in!

As the third attorney on Box’s Product Legal team, you will provide key support to product teams throughout the development and commercialization lifecycle on a variety of interesting (and, often, cutting-edge) legal issues. You will also collaborate across the organization to develop workable solutions. This role may be based in our Redwood City, Austin, Chicago or New York City office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, Privacy, and other Legal teams to review products, features and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies in a wide range of subject areas including privacy, artificial intelligence/machine learning, open source, intellectual property, consumer protection, electronic transactions and data protection. Manage internal projects, processes, and cross-functional efforts to successful completion. Collaborate cross-functionally on external communications, policy development, and to improve processes and centralize information. A variety of other assignments that may arise from time to time to support the business and Legal team.

WHO YOU ARE

4+ years of legal work in areas such as product counseling, privacy, artificial intelligence/machine learning, data protection, intellectual property, consumer protection, technology transactions, regulatory, or technology litigation in-house, at a law firm, or in government. Experience in Internet technologies, artificial intelligence/machine learning and privacy is preferred. A J.D. or equivalent degree and admission to at least one state bar in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the United States. Ability to successfully collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including translating between legal frameworks and technical details and developing practical solutions that take both into account. Strong skills in conducting thorough legal research and analysis to inform product development and compliance strategies. Experience in reviewing legal content and marketing materials to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company policies. A history of investigating, scoping, and solving legal issues. A demonstrated ability to communicate legal concepts clearly, accurately, and succinctly to a wide range of audiences, both orally and in writing. A history of building strong relationships, credibility, and partnerships and of working in cross-functional teams. The ability to balance competing priorities and manage several time-sensitive projects at once in a fast-paced, high growth environment. A desire to learn, a strong work ethic, a high level of integrity, and dedication to providing top-notch legal counsel along with a good sense of humor to foster a positive team atmosphere. Passion for delighting customers and earning their trust.
