Job DescriptionAECOM’s Design and Consulting Services-Americas legal department is actively seeking a creative, highly talented attorney to support AECOM’s operations in its East Region. This will be a hybrid position including a combination of both remote and in-office, and can be located in, but not be limited to: Coral Gables, FL; Tampa, FL
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in construction law and legal issues related to contracts for engineering, construction, and other technical services.
Job Description:
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, and other legal documents relating to architecture, engineering, construction, and other services provided by the company to clients in the public and private sectors, including documents related to teaming arrangements, joint ventures, confidentiality agreements, and insurance in both English and SpanishGuidance on risk management and adherence to company policiesAct in an advisory capacity making recommendations that may have an important bearing on the conduct of the organization's businessWork with management and staff to resolve pre-litigation disputes and potential claimsManage various types of litigation matters and claims utilizing outside counsel retained by the company to maximize quality and cost-effectivenessHandle subpoenas, document requests, and other litigation related items with limited support staffReview and conduct research into legislation, cases and legal precedents and emerging government policies to the extent required to address contract-specific or other mattersPrepare and review legal memoranda and briefs relating to organizational risks and activitiesProvide staff with guidance on compliance with federal and state laws, statutes and regulationsProvide support to multiple offices, and support other team members within the broader East Region as may be necessary based on experience and/or workloadsQualificationsMinimum Requirements:
J.D. Degree from accredited law school + 5 years of relevant legal experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationAs well as:
Bilingual in English / Spanish, both written and spoken, in order to assist the LATAM region. Member in good standing with any U.S. state barAbility to travel periodically - approximately 10%Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience at an engineering, architecture or construction companyClaims/litigation handling, including management of outside counsel, relating to architecture, engineering, and construction issuesExperience negotiating and drafting contracts for infrastructure projects procured and delivered through alternative delivery mechanisms, including design-build, progressive design-build P3, and EPCCapable of working independently with minimal oversightProficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPointWell-developed communications skills; ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues and analysis as it pertains to business and technical concerns to executive management, commercial and finance colleagues, technical colleagues and peersOutgoing, personable and a team playerSelf-driven & resourceful to achieve goals independently and in groupsFlexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules and prioritiesAbility to generate ideas, make recommendations & come to consensusExcellent writing, presentation, and meeting facilitation skillsAdditional InformationThis position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the futureRelocation assistance and/or per diem is not offered for this positionAbout AECOM
