Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Teach, advise, supervise, and mentor students in the MA and PhD counseling programs, particularly students with a clinical mental health focus
+ Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall clinical mental health program
+ Actively engage in research and other scholarly activities in counselor education
+ Seek externally funded research grants
+ Serve on and direct dissertation committees
+ Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
+ An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP -accredited university
+ Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and clinical mental health counseling specialty
+ Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and experience as a clinical mental health counselor
+ Experience working with a variety of client populations
+ Demonstrates promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and service/ outreach/engagement
+ Promise of obtaining external grant funding to support one’s research
+ Involvement in professional counseling organizations
+ Teaching experience at the university level (preferred)
Expertise in crisis counseling and/or grief and loss counseling (preferred)
