UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty. **The Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity has an outstanding opportunity for a Counseling Services Coordinator to join their team.** The Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity’s (OMA&D) mission is to create pathways for diverse populations to access postsecondary opportunities, nurture and support their academic success, and cultivate a campus climate that enriches the educational experience for all. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Identify and select TRIO SSS program participants in cooperation with the program staff; management of a TRIO SSS student caseload; comprehensive diagnosis and needs assessment necessary to determine the academic, personal, financial, career, and cultural needs of project participants; participation in planning, development and implementation of programming and activities for students; providing personalized advising and counseling for TRIO SSS students in areas of academics, career, financial aid, financial management, personal issues, and graduate/professional school. (40%) + Develop and implement seminars, academic workshops, and other programming designed to assist students in areas of academics, career, financial aid, financial management, personal issues, and graduate/professional school. (15%) + Maintain complete electronic files for program evaluation purposes, and prepare reports as necessary on assessment, academic progress, program activities, and financial aid. (10%) + Assist and provide advocacy to students with administrative processes that impact their enrollment at the UW, such as Hardship Withdrawal Petitions, Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress Appeals or Reinstatement Petitions; provide students with letters of recommendation or support as appropriate. (5%) + Maintain liaison relationships with academic departments, administrative offices, and agencies which provide assistance to participants within and outside the university; collaborate with OMA&D and other university programs focusing on student retention, graduation, and success. (5%) + Engage students in research, internship, and leadership opportunities. Promote student preparation for graduate/ professional school opportunities in collaboration with the McNair Program and Early Identification Program. (5%) + Lead communication efforts and coorespondence with program participants including the creation of website content and outreach for events, and implementation of assessment tools throughout the academic year. (5%) + Represent TRIO SSS in collaborative partnerships on and off campus; work with program staff to develop innovative programming that fosters the academic, social and emotional well-being of TRIO SSS students and maximizes their opportunities at UW. (5%) + Participate in regular meetings with the TRIO SSS Assistant Director and staff to monitor and evaluate the program; work with the TRIO SSS staff to develop new and innovative proposals and performance reports. (5%) + Perform other duties as assigned. (5%) **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Communication or related field. + 2 - 3 years related experience _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Master’s degree + Experience working in a TRIO project instructing, advising, facilitating small groups, tutoring, and/or providing other project related student services. + Familiarity with the administrative structure of a large university + Experience navigating institutional barriers and demonstrated ability to be an effective advocate for diverse students + Understanding of the complexities of identity formation and intersectionality + Experience working with Tribal communities, immigrant communities, and/or marginalized communities + Understands issues of equity, inclusion and social justice. **Application Process:** The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
