About the Role: π
We are seeking a qualified Counseling Specialist with a strong commitment to social work and educational achievement to join our Learning to Work (LTW) Program at Queens Satellite High School for Opportunity. LTW provides an alternative pathway to graduation for youth ages 16 and older. Funded by the NYC Department of Education and implemented in collaboration with QCH, the program offers students paid internships and career and college readiness seminars. As a Counseling Specialist, you will provide essential support services to students striving to earn their high school diploma. π
Key Responsibilities: β
+ Serve as the primary counseling contact, managing a caseload of at-risk students.
+ Conduct one-on-one counseling and case management to address academic, social, and personal challenges.
+ Provide assessments, mental health referrals, and follow-up services.
+ Facilitate workshops on mental health topics such as stress management and healthy relationships.
+ Guide students in developing and implementing post-secondary plans.
+ Maintain accurate records and case notes in Salesforce.
+ Organize and lead monthly case conferencing meetings.
+ Engage families to support studentsβ academic and personal growth.
+ Collaborate with DOE staff and adhere to school mental health protocols.
+ Support alumni services and follow up with program graduates.
Qualifications: π
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelorβs degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field.
+ At least two (2) years of experience working with youth, preferably in a NYC high school setting.
+ Experience facilitating group sessions in areas such as leadership, college readiness, and employment opportunities.
+ Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
+ Excellent computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Masterβs degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
+ At least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
+ Experience in program development and community outreach.
+ Familiarity with Google Forms and Salesforce for tracking student progress.

Monday β Friday, 8:00 AM β 4:00 PM
