*The University of Maryland School of Medicine's Division of Child Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for a Counselor to join the Center for Infant Study.* The mission of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is to support the positive development of children and wellness of families. We accomplish this through a "Family- Centered" approach, with strong collaboration with community stakeholders (parent consumers, family advocates, community providers, and child-serving agency leaders) to respond to their needs and priorities. As child mental health experts, our focus spans from prevention strategies the promote resilience to innovative treatments that address complex and serious behavioral health concerns. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.* *_Primary Duties_* * The Counselor works under the supervision of a licensed professional and assists individuals and/or families identifying, understanding, and decreasing the impact of mental health problems in young children and supports family wellness in a family medicine clinic, early education setting, and in an outpatient mental health clinic. The counselor provides young child, their caregivers, and providers support to facilitate the development of attachment, self-regulation skills, and family resiliency through one-on-one and group interactions. * Provides integrated care services as a Healthy Steps Specialist on evidence-based, trauma-informed services to pregnant persons and children ages 0-5, and their families receiving care in the Family Medicine Clinic. * Provides screenings and assessments for parents and children and develops person-centered treatment plans for a variety of young children and family issues in an outpatient clinic and in Early Head Start centers. * Provides consultation, trainings, and information to Family Medicine, Early Head Start and early education providers and trainees. * Documents client(s) progress in the electronic medical records. Performs chart reviews and generates notes on evaluations, therapy sessions, grant reports and other accountability measures. * Develops and provides care management plans for families. * Facilitates training for parenting groups on evidence-based practices. * Performs other duties as assigned. *Education:*Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology. *Certification/Licensure:*Licensed Master Social Work - (LMSW) or Licensed Graduate professional Counselor (LGPC) in the State of Maryland. *Other:*No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement. *_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities_* Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
