Posting Number NONAC3352 Job Title Counselor Position Title Counselor Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary Commensurate with experience Department Counseling Services Position Summary The Counselor will provide a full range of counseling, consultation, and outreach services under the general direction of the Counseling Services (CS.) Director at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM.) The Counselor position is responsible for, but not limited to, provision of the following: individual and group mental health assessment; counseling, teletherapy; prevention education; classroom, group, organization, and department presentations, and workshops; referrals; individual, organizational, and group consultation; treatment/intervention planning and follow-through; timely documentation of progress notes; referrals to and consulting with other professionals on-and off-campus; participation in other activities of the CS Continuous Quality Improvement program; attending CS and other departmental meetings as assigned; participation at professional trainings, workshops and/or conferences as assigned; participation in other assigned CS and campus committees and activities. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Completed Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field


Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of counseling experience in clinical or educational settings Emphasis on clinical counseling Licensed or licensed eligible in the state of Georgia Must demonstrate well-developed assessment, evaluation, and organizational skills Must possess the ability to function independently and know when to escalate issues to achieve and maintain high levels of successful project completion Must possess skills and abilities in: o training and development o project and event management o data management and program design Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills Additionally, this position requires the ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Experience:

Licensed or licensed eligible in the state of Georgia preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in higher education, undergraduate medical education or graduate medical education, or hospital administration. Ability to collaborate with others across multiple levels of an organization to achieve results and build relationships of trust among various college departments and divisions. Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and effectively address complex and sensitive administrative issues. Experience presenting effectively to large audiences. Proven track record in exercising discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making processes. Experience adapting to changing environments and navigating organizational dynamics. Maintains confidentiality and adhere to the respective ethical code. Provide comprehensive counseling services to students and residents as required to provide preventative or remedial assessment. Provide training in study skills improvement, time management skills, and anxiety reduction counseling to medical, Ph.D., PA, and public health students in an individual and/or group setting. Create survey and evaluation tools, manage collection, storage, and manipulation of data; create reports Perform wellness feedback sessions in relation to electronically administered screening assessments for each academic class. Conduct follow-up wellness sessions with assigned students. Engage in wellness education and mindfulness exercises as assigned. Engage weekly in support groups, outreach, and/or personalized wellness interventions for assigned academic programs. Attends approved training sessions, staff development activities, and required meetings. Coverage for crisis response, including after-hours on-call coverage. Prepare student wellness plans, monthly reports, discharge plans, etc.; analyze results of treatment efforts through the use of functional assessment tools for indications of therapeutic progress; alter therapeutic approaches, as necessary. Immunization

Immunization Requirements It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
