We are seeking an IT Country Manager - South Africa, to join our IT Regional Team

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading an IT team, managing user expectations and satisfaction and ensuring the continuous services related to local applications, robotics, service desk, on-site support, infrastructure, vendor management, procurement management (licenses, hardware, software, etc.), service budgeting and cost control activities.

As Country IT Manager, you will oversee IT operations in South Africa, Zambia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Ubesksthan, Mongolia and Armenia. Your primary responsibility will be to manage IT activities across these countries.

 

In this position, you will report to the Director, Regional IT

This position is mainly located in Centurion, Gauteng

 

TEAM YOU WILL BELONG TO

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such all Global IT personnel, mainly global IT service owners and regional IT team members, Global IT suppliers and in country level IT services providers and suppliers

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Lead and manage country IT team, operations, priorities, and performance.  Mentor and coach to constantly grow, challenge themselves and display professionalism Prepare roadmaps, action plans, follow-up and ensure team engagement to deliver according to the expectation Ensure IT infrastructure and applications operate to the satisfaction of business and management team in all locations within scope of responsibility Ensuring the team adheres to all global and regional processes and, that documentation is updated and stored in compliance with global standards including CMDB Represent IT global function to the local market area management and business stakeholders Build effective relationships and actively participate in business meetings where IT representation, communication, direction, planning and leadership are required.  Effectively make sound management decisions Act as a regional escalation point for any new/ongoing issues, managing communication and provisioning of troubleshooting in collaboration with service owners, service delivery specialists and managed service providers Manage IT vendors, contracts, and procurement.  Align local agreements, procurement policies and processes with global where possible and potential for synergies. Perform periodic reviews to improve value and cost efficiency Manage cost planning and annual budgeting, expenditure analysis & reporting. Coordinate systematic processes for accurate IT cost allocation, identify discrepancies and deviations, liaise with finance team to make timely adjustments. Ensure ongoing accuracy of operational run rate Manage local business demands, expectations and requirements Lead local IT projects such as new site setups, relocations, consolidations and closures Lead implementation of new systems, major upgrades, and configuration changes Contribute to planning and execution of global IT projects Ensure local and global projects, requirements and operations are managed in line with expectations from global and regional management, local market area management and business stakeholders. Coordinate change management and communication on country level Manage local IT infrastructure requirements. Collaborate with Service Delivery Specialists to plan and execute upgrades and changes.  Develop and maintain documentation for IT service management and disaster recovery Manage local software and applications together with application owners.  Engage with vendors and consultants for application support, development, upgrades, patching, security, and license compliance. Create and maintain records and documentation for IT service management and disaster recovery Ensure that current and future IT infrastructure, applications, software, policies, processes and standards are aligned and developed in a harmonized manner according to global direction, goals and objectives.  Communicate and enforce policies and standards locally, channel feedback and deviations to respective teams, process owners, and managers Ensure reliable operation of data and system backups, define archiving process and retention policy in accordance with business and legal requirements Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure timely recoverability and mitigated business impact in the event of cyber-attack, information security threats, exploits, and unforeseen equipment loss/failure Routinely audit local user access rights to critical applications in consultation with business, mitigate intellectual property threats on local level and handle security alerts and incidents Manage local IT assets and oversee processes to ensure systematic entry and updating of asset records.  Initiate asset audits, stock takes and manage life-cycle of equipment Participate and represent IT function in company audits Identify and implement areas of improvement for end-user engagement, customer satisfaction, feedback, and NPS in alignment with global targets Be available after hours for on-call response to major incidents, critical alerts, threats and investigations that may require remote meetings or on-site attendance

Assist the Regional IT Director in all subsequent scope of work assigned

 

WHO YOU ARE

Matric (Grade 12) Qualifications in Information Technology or related discipline Minimum of 20- years of experience as an IT professional Minimum of 10 years of experience in line managing IT professionals and business stakeholders, coordinating various IT infrastructure services with multiple vendors in demanding business environment

 

WHAT SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS (HARD AND SOFT) ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE?

Ability to build IT strategic roadmap, action plans, follow-up and ensure deliverables according to plan Strong leadership, management and decision-making skills Ability to comprehend complex information and business requirements Cost planning, budget management and reporting ability Experience in project management and change management Fundamentals in ITIL, IT service management, and Agile methodology Experience with vendor management, contracts and agreement negotiation Excellent communication (written/spoken English) and public presentation skills Proactive problem identification and analysis skills, sound technical and problem-solving ability Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills Positive, can-do attitude Excellent prioritization skills, flexibility and adaptability to cope with change Added advantage if worked as Business IT Consultant with ability to analyze and think out of the box, communicate fluently with business stakeholders, analyze demands and translate to practical IT projects and solutions
