Items transported include, but are not limited to, linen carts (full and empty), inter-office mail, Lab coolers, various supplies, mail, pharmacy totes, refrigerated supplies, lab specimens, and billing envelopes. May also include deposit and change bags to/from area banks. This position may be required to work weekends, nights and holidays.This is a physical job which requires the ability to lift, move and deliver a variety of items. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Must be able to follow detailed route instructions and schedules. Must be able to record and maintain detailed logs, as required. Must be able to secure keys and key cards at all times. Must be able to pick up, load, unload and deliver a wide variety of supplies and other items (as described in the Summary above). Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle, specifically the Mercy Courier Vans. Must be able to repetitively enter and exit the driver and cargo areas of the vans. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Certification and Licensure For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles: Maintain a valid driver's license. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. For those driving their personal vehicles: Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES Transporters who work the Finance routes are required per Federal Regulation to provide (through Mercy) their Driver's License number and Social Security Number to Mercy's banking partner. Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Function of the position with or without accommodations. This is considered heavy work. While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to stand, walk and drive, using their hands to hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. They must also be able to safely operate a motor vehicle, specifically the courier vans they will be required to drive. Drive times may be for extended durations, so the partner must have the required stamina to do this. The partner is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This job requires the employee to sit, while driving, for extended periods of time. The partner must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
