Position Highlights:

Position: CourierHourly Pay Range: $17.99 - $25.63. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors.Location: Glenview, ILPart-time (20 hours per week)Hours: Monday-Friday, 4:00PM-9:00PM, rotating days/weekends/holidaysRequired Travel: As needed across sites

What you will do:

Transports specimens, reports and supplies between hospitals, offsite Satellite hospital operations, as well as non-affiliated hospitals and physician offices.Operates hospital owned vehicles in a safe manner, adhering to all state, local and federal traffic regulationsPerforms pre and post trip inspection of vehicle for any potential hazardsMaintains a clean vehicle (refuel, wash vehicle) at all timesNotifies management immediately of any mechanical or physical problems with any vehicleServices all routine and auxiliary sites as scheduled, retrieving all items, obtaining signatures at each locationUtilizes Soft Express handheld device to scan specimens and packages, and to document any related issues or concernsRegularly communicate with dispatcher to confirm receipt and completion of assignment, issues, and concernsEnters pertinent data into handheld device related to pick-up deliveryCommunicates with Laboratory staff and its customers to ensure quality patient careTransports employees and supplies between hospitals, corporate offices, and other NorthShore sites as specified, including, Satellite operations Special events, U.S. Government.Retrieves mail and supplies from scheduled locations (i.e. Mail/Copy Center, Receiving, Pharmacy, Operating Rooms, SPD, etc.)Performs quality sort pre/post-delivery to ensure accuracyEnters pertinent data into handheld device related to pick-up and deliveryNotifies department manager of any and all driving infractions including loss of driver's licensure immediatelyMaintains accurate driving records, logs and trip tickets and reruns them daily to the department. Provide explanations.Ensures that all NorthShore passengers require an ID to board transportation. No employee will be allowed to board without ID.Provides Courier service to assigned routes to deliver and pick-up supplies/specimens of NorthShore facilities and other outside vendor companiesSafely transports passengers, supplies between assigned locationsPerforms pre and post trip inspection of vehicle for any potential hazardsPerforms duties in a cost-effective manner, communicates to supervisor of any wasteful practicesAssists with special assignments and projectsRepresents NorthShore and department and provides routine explanation of service to usersFollows NorthShore Service Values, including demonstrating friendly and courteous behavior at all times to rider(s).Must have ability to deal effectively with the demand of departmental relationships with hospitals, clinics and departmentsStrives to maintain positive work environmentCreates supportive climate/work environment by serving as a role model of professional behaviorMaintains a service-oriented relationship with customersRespects and maintains confidentiality of information relevant to customers, visitors and co-workersCommunicates with dispatcher in order to receive relevant data and instructions

What you will need:

Education: High School Diploma or four (4) years of equivalent work experienceSkills: Willing to learn, be dependable, reliable, emotionally stable, pay attention to details, and able to perform functions outlined in physical requirements.  Seeks assistance of supervisory personnel as necessary.  Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.  Possess honesty, integrity, trustworthy qualities.  Models the NorthShore Service Values.  Ability to organize and maintain driving records, work independently, and adapt to change.Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year of route delivering or courier driving experience.  Knowledge of medical specimens and/or medical supplies preferred.Certification: Must possess a valid Illinois Class "D" driver’s license.  Must have held a valid driver's license for three (3) years prior to the date of application. Must have good driving record subject to State driver motor vehicle verification to comply with Hospital Insurance requirements.  Within three (3) years of date of application or promotion, must have not been convicted of a). driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, b). reckless driving, c). leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury. d). drag racing, e). manslaughter, f) reckless homicide, g). reckless conduct from use of a motor vehicle or other serious driving infraction conviction.
