EDEA 206-001/EDEC 201-001 - First Year Professional Seminar

This seminar along with First Field Experience (Music) serves as an orientation to the culture of the school and to teaching as a profession. Emphasis is on the general functioning of elementary and secondary schools. Topics include the role of the arts in the curriculum. Professional portfolios and professional competencies will be addressed.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Education 

Master’s degree (In exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered) 

Teaching degree or equivalent

Experience 

Experience teaching in schools

Expert knowledge of course content

Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)

Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation

Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary/secondary school system is an asset

Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teacher an asset

Familiarity using myCourses and Zoom or similar online course and meeting platform(s) an asset

Other:

A commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors

Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date.
