EDEC 253-002 - Second Professional Seminar (Kindergarten/Elementary) (PIF)

Preparation for the second field experience through development of basic practices in planning and teaching in elementary school classrooms. Competencies and working professional portfolios will be addressed

Please note: This is a PIF course - Excellent proficiency in French, oral and written is required.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Education 

A Master’s degree (In exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered) 

A teaching degree or equivalent, and experience teaching in elementary schools

Experience 

Expert knowledge and experience of course content

Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP).

Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation 

Previous successful teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers an asset

Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system

Other 

Excellent proficiency in French, oral and written

A commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors 

Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meetings minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date 

A commitment to working collaboratively in planning and delivering the course, to achieve l’approche programme (as mandated by CAPFE) 

Familiarity using MyCourses, Zoom, and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences is an asset.

Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.

Course dates: May 6, 2024 to May 22, 2025.

Contract Start Date: 2 week before course start date. (approx)

Contract End Date: 2 weeks after course end date. (approx)
