EDPS 600-002 - Introductory Professional Seminar
Introductory seminar designed to foster critical thinking about the complex educational endeavour of becoming a teacher. Considers what shapes the development of teachers’ roles, identities and professionalism. Case-based approaches to topics such as community, families, relationships, conflict management, and trauma informed practices. E–portfolio documentation of developing individual teacher identity and professional competencies.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education
Master teachers with an MA and extensive relevant experience
School-based teaching experience in secondary schools, preferably in Quebec
Experience
1.Critical knowledge of teacher role development and professionalization
2.Expert knowledge of and experience in:
Course content as specified in the course description
Case-based approaches to relevant topics such as those listed in the course description
Supporting development of relevant professional competencies
Other
Deep understanding of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
A commitment to working collaboratively in planning and delivering the course, both across course sections and across the program
Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting in advance of the course start date

Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
Previous successful experience developing and supporting pre-service teacher e-portfolios
