Job SummaryTo support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a CPO Development Staff Engineer located in Prai, Penang.
Holding up on mechanical, electrical, and testing of product design for a new and rapidly growing division within Flex. Work in comprehending product requirements, assembling prototypes for products under development, and creating fixtures for assembly and test of prototypes. Implementing world-class solutions for our customers.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Possess at least a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optoelectronics / Photonics, Microelectronics / Semiconductor Packaging, Applied Physics or Optical Engineering, or equivalent.Minimum 5–8 years of experience in semiconductor packaging, photonics, or optical module assembly.Hands-on experience in CPO, transceiver packaging, or optical engine integration.Experience in fiber cleaning, routing, and inspection processes.Exposure to switch ASIC and optical engine co-integration (co-packaging roadmap).Familiar with cleanroom practices (ISO Class 1000 / 10000 environments).Technical Skills:
Assembly Processes
Fiber attach, active alignment (multi-axis alignment, ± sub-micron accuracy).
Die attach, flip-chip bonding, underfill, wirebonding.
Micro-optics handling (lens, prism, couplers).
Proficiency with fiber optic inspection equipment (video inspection microscopes, interferometers).
Knowledge of fiber cleaning standards (IEC 61300-3-35).
Experience in cable/fiber routing & handling (bend radius, patch panel management).
Switch/Optics Integration
Knowledge of electrical-optical co-design for CPO switch systems.
Understanding of thermal management in high-density CPO assemblies.
Familiarity with silicon photonics (SiPh) transceivers and co-packaged switch modules.
Inspection & Testing
Experience with optical alignment verification (power coupling efficiency, insertion/return loss).
Proficiency in metrology tools: interferometers, SEM/optical microscopes.
Reliability testing (temperature cycling, humidity, shock/vibration).
Cleanroom/Process Knowledge
Working in ISO Class 1000/10000 environments.
ESD & contamination control.
Certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certifications.
IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 (electronics assembly quality).
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
