The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is currently seeking a Construction Craft Recruiting Lead who will be responsible for providing staffing services to hiring managers of assigned division(s) for construction projects.  This involves sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring for complex or diverse sets of jobs; conducting complex sourcing searches; assessing the needs in recruitment and compensation adjustments; providing HR Generalist support and assisting with special projects; adhering to all federal, state, and local laws governing the employment process; and conducting forecasting, planning, exit interviews and assisting with reduction in force activities, all as required.
 

Key Responsibilities Provides recruiting services to hiring managers and department heads. Fills open requisitions as assigned. Identifies and recommends qualified internal & external candidates. Determines appropriate recruiting strategies utilizing the most efficient and cost-effective methods. Conducts interviews, meets with hiring managers to determine the top candidates, establishes salary, checks references (as required) and extends verbal and written employment offers. Participates in client meetings. Recommends starting salaries, promotions, salary increases, steps for progressive discipline and termination. Obtains approvals from Staffing Director & Employee Relations Director on terminations. Participates in reduction in force and management termination activities as needed Informs or advises Division HR Director regarding staffing or termination activities and issues Conducts exit interviews Manages a team of recruiters and coordinators.  This includes training, coaching, and distributing a realistic and flexible workload. Serves on various project teams or committees, as assigned May provide employee relations support to managers, department heads and employees as they pertain to staffing activities May act on behalf of the Construction Craft Staffing Manager in their absence, as assigned Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities which will add value. Champions continuous improvement efforts Assesses and supports the change management efforts associated with the implementation of improvements Proactively supports, encourages, and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities Assists with planning and forecasting for all construction project needs May conduct training classes as needed Will assist with construction project setup and planning Must travel to sites and offices as needed
  Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. 5+ years progressive recruiting experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 8 years progressive craft recruiting experience at the project level Supervisory experience Ability to demonstrate headhunting/sourcing experience Experience in the Grid industry Experience working with Craft professionals Experience managing an onboarding process Experience in high paced fast environment Demonstrable interviewing, Employment Law, EEO/AAP, and problem solving/conflict management experience Ability to travel a minimum of 30% of the time. Experience with HR compliance and knowledge of outreach and sourcing Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote 

You will be expected to travel at least 30% of the time in your role.
