Are you a qualified craft technician who is passionate about delivering high standards in a process driven accredited environment?

At Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions we are looking for a Craft Technician to work in our Building Technical Centre (BTC) helping to deliver specimen construction and sample preparation in support of the BTC and external customers in the field of fire/acoustic/structural testing requirements.

This Craft Technician will be a part of the testing laboratory team which is made up of craft technicians and scientists. You’ll report into the lab leader and work on specimen constructions to allow the team to test products, all the while undertaking further training and development to broaden your skill-set and be compliant with UKAS standards. 

British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we’re very proud of.

What we’re looking for:  

City & Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent NVQ qualification, or NVQ Level 2 Dry Lining Construction Health and Safety conscious – we are a safety first employer with high standards and you must be used to following H&S policies and procedures Process driven with high attention to detail Passionate about further development If you UKAS accreditation trained it would be a bonus (but not essential)

What you will be doing: 

Building structures in order for scientists to rig and test products, dismantling them afterwards Driving forklifts, maintaining work spaces, tools and machinery Work on projects, identify areas for improvement Communicate information and work to changing priorities
