**Purpose and Scope:** Provide craftsmen/asbestos support to meet all structure requirements and support the mission. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF). **Essential Responsibilities:** + Operate, inspect, maintain and repair structural components in all prescribed facilities and RPIE systems, both interior and exterior and other equipment installed in or on the facilities. + Maintain facility finishes which includes a variety of interior and exterior finishes such as concrete, masonry, wood, metal, sheet rock, paints, foundations, wall coverings, floor coverings (to include raised computer room flooring), and stucco or plaster. + Maintain and repair roof systems including gutters, fall protection tie-offs, built-up, asphalt and fiberglass shingles, rubber membrane, corrugated metal, and standing seam metal and any other roofing types on AAAF IAW AFI 32-1001, UFGS 07 51 13, and UFC3-110-04. + Sample, analyze, and abate asbestos as necessary in support of maintenance, mission requirements, and construction contracts IAW industry standards and practices, OSHA, UFGS 01 57 19, & EPA requirements and IAW the Ascension Island Asbestos Management Plan. + Maintain manifests with quantities and method of packaging asbestos. + Closely coordinate with all other on-site Contractors for asbestos removal as mission or other contracts dictate. + Conduct asbestos bulk sampling and analysis before facility renovation or demolition. **Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:** + Shall have an equivalent of an Air Force minimum 5 level or equal and 5 years’ experience in their respective trades. + Must be certified IAW 40 CFR 763 Chap 1. + High school diploma or equivalent training & experience. + Ability to read and write English is required. + Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills. + Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team. + Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. + Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN). + Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required. + Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment. + Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** + Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies. + Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds. + Work includes facilities, towers, antennas, security control and locks, cranes and hoists, corrosion control, heavy metals in paint, and asbestos removal and disposal services. + Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. + Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. + Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. + Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
