Overview of the Craftsperson/Finishing Technician role
As part of our team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to support the production of Rejuvenation lighting and hardware products. Performs all processes in finishing department, and ultimately learning the painting operations using HVLP application equipment.
Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces and apply coatings to a variety of products/parts using standard methods. Primary applications are lacquer and polymer paint on brass and aluminum parts using HVLP spray equipment. Organize, move, hang, and prepare parts daily for painting. Other paint duties include proper paint preparation, sandblasting, grinding, buffing, and chemical treatment on parts to achieve the required surface finish. Understanding of safety practices relevant to industrial painting. Willingness to cross-train in other departments. Performs certain scheduled maintenance on designated equipment. Contributes to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. Collaborates other employees to complete orders and solve problems. Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives. Complies with all safety rules regarding chemicals, machinery and equipment. Prepare parts manually for efficiency in production process. May be assigned to the Production Department to satisfy customer demand. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Criteria
High school education or equivalent Knowledge of paint gun set up, operation and maintenance 1+ year of industrial painting experience. Experience in 2-part epoxy, and or lacquer application and operating an air-assisted, HVLP, and conventional systems preferred. Prior experience in manufacturing preferred. Medium level of English comprehension, reading, and speaking required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to constantly stand, walk, talk and hear. The associate must be able to frequently move, push, pull, lift or carry heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds. Adequate hand dexterity to work with required hand and power tools – frequent grasping and fine manipulation required. Work Conditions: Work is regularly performed in a distribution/manufacturing setting. There may be exposure to airborne particles, chemicals, fumes, flammable materials, dirt, grease, and electrical equipment (Personal Protective Equipment provided where required). May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to humid, hot, or cold conditions as well as exposure to moderate noise levels.
