Do you have experience in wood working? Sandvik is looking for someone to work in our Crate Department - Outbound on our Midshift (10:00AM-6:30PM Monday through Friday) in our Romeoville, IL location. We ship critical parts all over the world which need to arrive on time and safely to our customers.

Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology, the leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry, currently has 1 opening for a wood shop technician.

This is a hybrid position as a crate builder along with working in our Outbound Operations.

Main responsibilities Include:

Safely operate power tools and forklift with limited supervisionMaintain a clean organized work area for safe operationsAbility to build wood crates for our machinery for shipments both domestic and internationalAbility to build custom wood crates for packages for various size/weight machineryPull parts from inventory for crating/packaging jobsResponsible for counting, verifying and moving items and quantities safely and accurately throughout the facility. Counting and verifying may be performed manually using paperwork or through the automated WMS function using an RF devicePerform other warehouse operations such as other MHE, Dock and/or Tablework functions, inspection of product to look for damages and ensure proper quality and counting of product based on vendor/customer order quantities. 

Experience and Required Competencies

1-2 years’ carpentry experienceAbility to follow written instructions or specifications to build pallets, crates and standsProficient in the use of electric and manual powered equipment such as table saws, skill saws, radial arm saws, drills, nail gun, measuring devices, drill bit and hardwareAbility to work both independently and as a teamMust be able to operate a forklift and lift truckHigh School or equivalent experience. Post-secondary education/training in business or supply chain discipline would be of advantage.Desirable English Proficiency: Intermediate (CEFR B1/ Completed EF level 6)

Required Competencies

Experience in carpentry, Warehouse Distribution and or Supply Chain environment and attention to detail. A valid Forklift Operator License.
