Job Highlights:SIGN ON BONUS: $500 ($250 at 30 days; $250 at 6 months)
 

This Opportunity:The primary responsibilities of the Creative Arts Specialist is to provide evaluation, instruction and support to individuals and staff in a variety of creative arts areas. Individualized plans for individuals with IDD, mental health or substance abuse issues are developed to enable individuals to express themselves through creative arts activities. This may be for personal pleasure and creative expression or a method to achieve their personal dreams and goals through involvement in inclusive social settings that helps to increase/restore what they define as their natural function within their community.

What You'll Do:

•    Assume responsibility for overall conceptual framework of an inclusive creative arts program and the development of activities that typically focus on only one individual’s specific needs.
•    Provide evaluation of individual’s creative skills and interests and make recommendations for program development and improvement.
•    Work with local artisans, community artistic associations, businesses, educational institutions, agencies and other resources to develop collaborations to supplement and maximize the creative arts programming (including seeking out opportunities for resource sharing and donations or grants of goods and services).
•    Develop relationships and establish coordination with local resources for the development and enhancement of creative arts activities and leisure activities for individuals supported.
•    Design and develop a variety of creative arts activities, modules, classes and programs specific to the needs of individuals being supported.
•    Develop and implement creative arts and leisure skill assessments for individuals supported and provide training for staff.
•    Manage program within established budget and make recommendations for needed materials, supplies and equipment for the creative arts program and activities.
•    Maintain timely and accurate service documentation in a manner consistent with agency and state/federal law. Complete and submit accurate information on time; maintain and ensure comprehensive medical records are kept for each person served.
•    Maintain positive working relationships within the communities served, including with individuals, families, team members, other staff, monitoring and licensing agencies, organizations, and funders.
•    Drive and travel as necessary to community locations, various agencies, and other outreach destinations. Provide and/or arrange for transportation for people supported as required.
•    Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.
•    Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.
•    Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations.
•    Follow service definition guidelines for services being provided.
•    Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

*The definition of an Innovations direct care worker includes all workers required for compliance with, or delivery of, the relevant Innovations waiver service definitions and the delivery of a unit of Innovations services to individuals in the definition of direct care worker to be applied and shall include only caregivers who are contracted for the Page 230 Session Law 2023-134 House Bill 259 provision of services in a legally appropriate manner.

Education We're Looking For:Associates: Arts, High School Diploma (Required)

Certifications We're Looking For:North Carolina Driver License (Valid) - NC Division of Motor Vehicles

Experience We're Looking For:Mental Health Experience

Schedule:Tuesday & Thursday (8:30am-2:30pm)
