Hybrid working is potentially available, depending on the area and manager. JLR is a multi-site business and you’ll be required to spend time working with different departments at several locations.

Your placement year at university could not have come at a more exciting time.  An undergraduate scheme at JLR is specifically designed to prepare you for a successful, long-term career with us. Surrounded by an innovative and dedicated team of industry experts, you’ll apply your learning and satisfy your curiosity for what’s possible. Arrive curious. Discover opportunity.

On successful completion of the undergraduate programme, you will be considered for a place on one of our graduate programmes. If you are offered a place, you will be informed shortly after completing your placement. You would then join the graduate programme in the September of the year in which you graduate.

Creative: Studio Modelling

As part of a team at the heart of the Creative Studio, you will make virtual models from early conceptual design stages, all the way through to highly detailed production models – bringing sketches to reality. The cars you'll be working on are some of the most desirable in the world and our work profoundly shapes their future and that of modern luxury.

At the heart of our Digital Surface Creative team, digital sculpting specialists focus on the early phases of design development. You could find yourself working on conceptual modelling right through to pre-production surfacing, so responsibility for bringing a sketch to life will be in your hands. Along the way, you will work with diverse teams to realise vehicle designs, particularly exterior/interior designers, design visualisers & animators and clay modellers.

Together with intensive training in Alias software, you will enjoy extensive instruction from experienced engineers, giving you everything you need to become an expert In Creative Aesthetic Surfacing (CAS) and have enormous impact on our product range.

WHAT’S REQUIRED

You will need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in transport or automotive design or digital 3D design.

For Digital Design this also includes degrees in Interaction design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Product or Industrial design. VFX, Game design, 3D visualisation and Animation degrees.

In addition, you will need to have a real passion for problem-solving, the curiosity to understand business challenges, and deliver innovative solutions. You will also need to have strong numerical and interpersonal skills, as well as the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students (those who will be returning to their final year of study or on an integrated master’s after their placement with us). All our undergraduate programmes have a fixed start date, commencing 7th July 2025.
