Summary

 

Responsible to drive multi-channel creative output on behalf of a dedicated book of business, ensuring brand consistency across commerce, retail, and digital throughout the consumer journey. Requires a strong focus on inspiring, nurturing, and managing a team of creative contributors including copywriters, designers, external agencies, and content creators to produce innovative, compelling, cohesive messaging and visuals while acting as the primary guardian of Gallo brand identities. This role also collaborates with business stakeholders and Client Partnership lead(s) to stimulate consumer engagement and support marketing goals by developing compelling brand experiences. Through skilled creative direction, demonstrated business acumen, and effective resource management, the Sr. Creative Manager, Brand Stewardship plays a crucial role shaping Gallo brands to enable a competitive edge in the market.
Core accountabilities of this position:

Creative Direction: Expertise developing and defining creative strategies and related elements; working with teams to conceive original concepts, refine and execute work, and deliver successful in-market activations. Client Partnership: Collaboration with internal marketing clients to develop sound creative strategies and successful executions in support of business and brand objectives. Talent Development: Advance the workgroup vision, providing steady leadership and daily coaching to team members to elevate individual performance and team contribution. Creative Direction Crafts visionary creative solutions that resonate with consumers across channels and touchpoints. Maintains consistent adherence to and quality assurance of brand identity guidelines as prescribed. Upholds the integrity of brands that migrate from innovation/renovation to activation, extending brand expression and experience principles more broadly. Works closely with Brand Development colleagues to ensure Brand Stewardship teams embrace prescribed principles and guidelines, e.g. package design extensions, new varietals, and product families. Leads and participates in creative strategy discussions, driving alignment between commerce and brand teams while remaining open to alternative approaches. Develops strategic communication plans and messaging maps for campaigns and platforms, ensuring a cohesive and impactful brand narrative across various channels. Leads the development of differentiated conceptual territories and corresponding activation principles in support of program/campaign objectives. Partners with cross-functional colleagues to analyze and map the shopper journey, both in-store and online-retail, to fully understand how consumers engage with brands at various touchpoints. Takes an active role in brand briefings; challenges conventional approaches by offering alternate recommendations that effectively deliver on business objectives. Utilizes shopper and retailer insights to craft compelling visuals and persuasive copy that effectively meets shoppers at each stage of their journey, driving brand engagement, conversion, and loyalty. Oversees content creation including social media, photo, and video to ensure the development of compelling, high-quality posts and assets within prescribed budgets and timelines. Inspires and guides the creation of compelling, on-brand copy and messaging across all communication platforms, ensuring consistency and effectiveness. Champions innovative storytelling and the creation of engaging, memorable experiences that resonate with target audiences. Ensures creative work is strategically sound and maintains brand integrity across all consumer touchpoints. Works closely with Brand Development, Client Partnership, Creative Strategy, Media, and Digital Marketing to ensure seamless integration across consumer touchpoints. Supports and contributes to the creation and implementation of processes and tools that enhance creative operations and workflow efficiency. Maintains impeccable attention to detail and quality, ensuring that creative output not only meets but exceeds expectations. Client Partnership Collaborates with stakeholders to craft and execute creative strategies that achieve business and brand objectives for a seamless blend of vision and practicality and a demonstrable impact on sales. Presents creative concepts and campaigns to clients and internal teams with persuasive confidence—clearly articulating vision, strategy, and supporting business rationale. Works closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional team members to review and refine strategies, concepts, and campaign executions. Actively engages with assigned brands and client groups through regular meetings, fostering strong relationships while staying abreast of evolving business needs and objectives. Partners with Client Partnership team lead to organize bi-annual review meetings with clients to assess partnership effectiveness, identifying and acting on opportunities to increase Gallo Creative's value-add. Solicits real-time feedback from clients regarding engagement and output of creative contributors; applies learnings to address challenges and drive continuous improvement. Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance efficiency and increase speed to market, leveraging creative thinking to solve complex challenges and maximize the value of marketing investments. Remains abreast of industry trends, emerging media, and new technologies to continually drive innovative thinking and make unsolicited recommendations to marketing clients and stakeholders. Ensures that travel and entertainment budgets, training, and general expenditures remain within budget. Talent Development Partners with Brand Stewardship functional lead to drive the vision of the workgroup, evolving creative talent and aligning creative endeavors with overarching business goals and client expectations. Fosters an environment where creativity and strategic business acumen intersect, empowering team members to deliver solutions that not only captivate consumers but drive brand growth. Remains current on digital best practices, media platforms, retailer standards, and ecommerce design trends; educate team members on the same. Collaborates with other Sr. Creative Managers to set expectations and standards, fostering a culture where every creative contributor strives to exceed those standards over time, elevating design output and messaging to more engaging, more innovative heights. Cultivates a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the Brand Stewardship team, encouraging the pursuit of novel approaches to creative strategy and problem solving. Facilitates a positive, objective, productive creative process that allows everyone to benefit from and build on each other’s ideas. Collaborates across disciplines to continue evolving and improving our processes, finding efficiencies that ensure our work is as streamlined as it is strategic. Oversees quality control including proofing, reviewing, measuring and evaluating staff performance, workload, creative output and project processes. Hires, coaches, mentors, and develops team members to identify opportunities for growth, nurturing team talents and strengths through training and support. Plays a pivotal role in resourcing cross-departmental and cross-functional projects, collaborating with other creative leaders to match available talent and expertise with business needs. Coordinates with Creative Operations to optimize the allocation and development of design talent, ensuring the right mix of experience and exposure across diverse projects. Manages internal and external creative talent to deliver on time, on strategy and on budget, guiding resources on preferred methodologies and best practices. Provides coaching and skillset development for direct reports, offering feedback in realtime, preparing and delivering formal reviews in accordance with Gallo’s performance management practices. Manages and expands (when necessary) network of outside resources including vendors, photographers and freelancers. Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, advertising, communications, and/or journalism plus 9 years of experience in graphic design, copywriting, art direction and/or campaign development reflecting increasing levels or responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 13 years of experience in graphic design, copywriting, art direction and/or campaign development reflecting increasing levels of responsibility. Original portfolio that contains a collection of commercial work across a variety of industries/client organizations and demonstrates a range of output, skills, and creative experience. Equally strong copy and design aesthetic with 3 years of experience leading multi-functional creative teams producing campaign-level work across print, digital, video, and retail/experiential within a fast-based advertising and/or creative services environment. Experience with consumer brand strategy and marketing equities, brand integration and brand voice as well as messaging, design, and production principles across all forms of media; skilled in color theory, typography, and creating for digital and social platforms. Expertise developing and defining creative strategies, refining concepts from ideation through execution—leading teams to produce exceptional creative solutions in support of consumer, shopper, commerce, and online and in-person retail. Success collaborating with a cross-section of internal and external agency functions; ability to build open, trusting partnerships with clients and colleagues. Proven ability to partner effectively with leadership team colleagues to appropriately influence cross-functional team performance and departmental effectiveness. Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to successfully interact with and influence senior clients and executive decision makers. Experience contributing to business development initiatives and positively influencing growth objectives. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through. Ability to succeed under pressure, managing multiple concurrent projects while shifting priorities and responding to changing business conditions and corresponding needs. Strong interpersonal communication, meeting leadership, conflict-resolution, and relationshipbuilding skills. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 productivity apps including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), Keynote, and cloudbased project management systems/platforms, e.g. Workfront, Basecamp, etc. Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications

 

Master’s degree plus 8 years of experience in graphic design, fine arts, advertising, communications, and/or journalism reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, advertising, or communications plus 11 years of experience in graphic design, copywriting, art direction and/or campaign development reflecting increasing levels or responsibility. Five (5) years of experience leading experience leading multi-functional creative teams. Alcohol beverage industry creative experience. External agency experience driving creative strategies on behalf of assorted clients and global brands. Experience assessing business problems, collecting data, extracting insights, and drawing sound conclusions.

Compensation

Hiring Salary Range: $143,500 - $215,300/Year Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
