Position Summary:

The Rice Basketball Creative Producer will be an integral part of the creative team, responsible for creating high-quality, captivating video and multimedia content that highlights the stories and achievements of our men’s and women’s basketball programs. This role will assist in shaping the visual storytelling for both basketball brands, ensuring alignment with the broader objectives and values of the athletic department

This role is classified as an essential position, requiring on-site presence to effectively carry out its vital functions.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, graphic design, marketing, public relations, or related field One or more (1+) years of related experience

Skills 

Strong videography and photography skills, with a solid understanding of social media trends Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in video editing and project management Able to assist with graphic templates as needed Excellent communication skills and proactive approach to content ideation and execution Portfolio showcasing relevant work, specifically basketball Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also effectively managing projects independently Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism Committed to serving the Athletics department, the University, and student-athletes with high levels of leadership, initiative, and integrity Exhibits strong enthusiasm for college athletics and a passion for men’s and women’s Basketball 

Preferences:

Experience working in collegiate basketball

Essential Functions:

Maintain a consistent and professional visual aesthetic across all content platforms, ensuring adherence to Rice University and Athletics branding guidelines, and maintaining a unified style, theme, and strategy across all men’s and women’s basketball content Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualize, produce, and edit compelling video content for our basketball programs, including but not limited to highlight reels, student-athletes and coach interviews, behind-the-scenes features, and long-form stories that showcase the team's talent and culture Utilize strong cinematography and photography skills to capture and produce visually appealing content across multiple platforms Collaborate with the coaching staff and marketing and communications departments to ensure that content aligns with broader program and departmental initiatives, branding, and messaging Assist the Director of Creative with developing and implementing content plans and strategies for the basketball teams' social media accounts throughout the year Regularly travel with teams for road coverage, generating real-time content that enhances social media presence and engages fans Manage and produce engaging content for recruiting presentations, social media, team events, and special projects; assist in coordinating photoshoots, graphics, and recruiting aids. Support the Director of Creative in organizing photoshoots for prospective student-athletes. Additionally, design graphics, electronic recruiting aids, and other visual assets for use by the men’s and women’s basketball coaching staff Apply a strong understanding of visual design principles, techniques, and best practices to create on-brand content Additional duties as assigned to support the broader creative team within the athletics department Lead recruiting content efforts both basketball programs, including campus visits, photoshoots, and collateral for graphics as requested by the coaching staffs

Additional Functions:

Required to be on-call throughout the basketball season and NCAA transfer portal recruiting windows (including nights and weekends) for recruiting visits and content edits. Requires working evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, including attending and traveling to select men's and women’s basketball practices, home away games, and outside events Thorough knowledge of NCAA basketball and compliance relevant to the role
