The successful candidate will be patron-focused, acting as a first point of contact between 3D printing and scanning services, virtual reality and gaming, Geographic Information Systems ( GIS ), audio and video recording, art and design research, and sewing and soft-goods fabrication. On-the-job training will familiarize applicants with the Library’s 3D printing, 3D scanning, sewing and small scale fabrication tools, and virtual reality equipment, media studios, and Fine Arts & Architecture and Materials collections. This position will work collaboratively toward goals alongside CrIS department employees to train University students, staff, and faculty to utilize the Library’s resources and services to accomplish their research and production goals. For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted. **Responsibilities** + Provide consultations for students, faculty, and staff on 3D media projects, including 3D scanning and 3D design, preparation, and print submission. + Develop proficiency with the various types of 3D and interactive media equipment offered by the Marriott Library. + Provide support for users with the sewing, embroidery, sergers, and other small scale fabrication resources. + Provide assistance with circulation, setup, and configuration of 3D and interactive media equipment such as 3D printers, 3D scanners, and virtual reality kits. + Provide assistance with maintenance, organization, and programming for the Fine Arts & Architecture and Materials Collections. + Develop familiarity with Media Studios and GIS equipment and software. Work alongside project collaborators to meet a broad array of research needs. **Minimum Qualifications** Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. **Preferences** + Demonstrated ability to solve problems and develop processes related to use of new technology. Ability to create and deliver learning content in a variety of formats including in-person and video. + Familiarity with current and next generation virtual reality equipment and desktop 3D printers. **Special Instructions Summary** **Additional Information** The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
