**Job Overview:**
Credit Risk Analyst is to support the Portfolio Management Group (“PMG”) in providing credit coverage for corporate accounts within Japanese Corporate Banking including duties in the areas of portfolio administration functions, financial analysis, and credit application preparation.
**Role Responsibilities:**
Credit Analyst
+ Perform due diligence and regularly scheduled evaluations of assigned loan portfolio, which is subject to change relative to the client portfolio
+ Conduct assessment of credit requests, including new requests, changed requests, refinance and annual due diligence
+ Support the preparation of detailed credit analyses and required credit applications in accordance with and pursuant to policy, procedures, and standards including the evaluation of corporate and industry risk, historical operating performance, projected operating performance and capital structure
+ Designate an internal rating for the borrower
+ Ensure timely coordination and communication of account information and submission of credit applications for approval across various constituencies throughout the organization
+ Maintain and reconcile credit application due dates with internal credit tracking system, and identify discrepancies and variances
+ Monitor report deadlines and monthly portfolio data and limit.
+ Maintain a thorough understanding of macro-level country/risk factors
+ Responsible for knowledge of relevant industries, including all current events in assigned portfolio utilizing internal and external sources
+ For assigned accounts, provide oversight of covenant compliance, facility closing due diligence, legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of credit conditions, if any
Relationship Management
+ Attend RM customer meetings as appropriate
+ Support RM in prescreening proposed transactions to identify critical issues and risks and in legal documentation
+ Improve and support client experience and contribute to the strategic JCB business targets and priorities
Customer Onboarding
+ Register new credit customers/modify existing customer information in various banking systems
Other
+ Participate in team efforts and ad hoc projects as assigned
+ Assist with internal and external audit requests.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Occasional travel as required.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or related discipline is required
+ MBA, CPA or CFA would be considered an asset - Qualifications and/or training courses in credit preferred
+ 1-3 years of related working experience in banking operations, portfolio management, corporate credit, and/or other similar experience with an emphasis on credit and analytical experience
+ Solid understanding of financial statements
+ Able to work independently and within team environment
+ Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to work under pressure
+ **Able to communicate in Japanese, both written and spoken, is an asset**
+ Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
+ Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
+ Strong analytical, financial, and balanced decision-making skills
+ Advanced financial modeling skills are required
