Job Details:
To serve as a resource to patients regarding all billing questions and facilitate the resolution of open accounts whether by patient payment, charity care or bad debt. RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assists all patients in a professional and courteous manner regarding hospital billing questions or inquires. This may also include visiting patients who are an inpatient.
+ Prepares accounts to be sent to an outside collection agency using the Affinity system. Works directly with collection agencies in reporting patient or insurance payments and assists with questions they may have regarding account issues.
+ Works on the self pay reports daily to address patient issues, concerns, bad debts, account balance discrepancies and cancelled accounts..
+ Prepares deposit on a daily basis to be sent over to the Business Office and ensures the petty cash drawer is balanced daily. Ensures adequate change is available for patients and other areas handling cash.
+ Process charity care applications in accordance with hospital charity care guidelines and applies appropraite adjustments to reflect accurate balance due from the patient.
+ Assist in registration of patients when needed at times to help facilitate patient flow.
+ Processes and adjusts employee, discounts in accordance with the hospitals discount policy.
+ Possesses the knowledge for interpretation and practical application of the charity care policy.
+ Promotes/Portrays a high level of professionalism both technically and personally. Possesses strong work ethic and exhibits optimism. Adheres to the dress policy and maintains a professional appearance and positive attitude.
+ Promotes cooperative relationships with other departments with the intention of enhancing services to customers, including but not limited to: patients, clinicians, physicians, and support staff. Communicates effectively within the department and keeps management informed on key issues
+ Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE
+ One year experience in a clerical capacity that includes working with large sums of cash. Previous public contact experience. Excellent communication skills.
