Credit Risk Specialist - Barclaycard Europe

We are seeking a Credit Risk Manager to join the Credit Risk team specifically reviewing new credit exposures and portfolio management of the existing portfolio covering Barclaycards Acquiring and Commercial Issuing portfolios across the EEA.


The role involves the recruitment of new clients, the on-going monitoring of portfolio’s in terms of credit performance and associated limits as well as the management of various policies to align risk exposure with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills:

Experience evaluating balance sheets to form independent judgement regarding new or existing limits for corporate clients. Understanding ERMF and associated control environment as well as regulatory requirements to operate in control.Excellent communicator with strong verbal and written skills with an ability to influence both internally and externally.Collaborative work style and ability to work across multiple projects and manage multiple stakeholders.

Preferential skills:

Experience working in global/pan-European teams with good knowledge of banking products processes.Experience in an issuing and acquiring environment and a knowledge of the different types of security options which may be available.Quantitative and detail orientated with educational background in finance, economics etc or relevant industry experience. Knowledge of data  analysis, visualisation and presentation tools.European Language, preferably Spanish or Italian.

This role is based in Dublin.

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

Purpose of the role

To safeguard the financial health of the bank by identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential credit risks associated with lending activities.

Accountabilities

Analysis of financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.Monitoring of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.Recommendation of loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.Development and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.
