POSITION PURPOSE

Building crewmember future schedules for a month in advance, adhering to all contractual and FAR 117 limitations.  Prepares and updates applicable crewmember data for crew systems, coordinates the bidding of training events, vacations and other days off, base vacancies and change of base assignments for crewmembers.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1.     Assists in creating safe and efficient pairings and master schedules based on input from marketing schedules and applicable union agreements, Company policy, and FAA regulations for flight scheduling.

2.     Alerts manager of any issues that may cause increased costs or a decrease of crew member utilization.

3.     Processes and schedules planned activities such as training events, vacation, base swaps, leaves, etc.

4.     Inputs schedule information into crew scheduling software.  Loads awarded schedule pairings and planned absences and other activities into the scheduling management systems.

5.     Provides excellent and timely customer service to crewmembers by responding to planning questions.

6.     Instructs new hire Pilots and Flight Attendants on how to place schedule bids.

7.     Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.  Two years of statistical and/or airline operation experience. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, contract language.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Able to deliver negative information in a tactful and professional manner.

 

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.    Able to deal with conflict effectively while treating all employees with respect.  Ability to detect pattern changes in monthly schedules to alert management of potential conflicts, increased costs, or decreased utilization.

 

DECISION MAKING

This position requires a strong aptitude for problem solving and attention to detail.  Decisions in regards to pairing construction and line awards could have a cost and crew utilization impact for the Company.  Must be able to work with minimal supervision and see issues from multiple perspectives.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of four years of education and on the job experience.  Knowledge of Crew Scheduling procedures, applicable Federal Air Regulations and compliance with collective Bargaining agreements. Familiarity with Crew optimization software and crew bidding systems (such as FLICA). Knowledge of CAE (Sabre) CrewTrac Crew Management System preferred.  Ability to work with all levels of management and labor representatives. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to sit for long periods of time.

Able to use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk or hear over 70% of the time.

Able to focus with clear vision at 20 inches or less (computer screen).

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

Typically not exposed to extreme environmental conditions.  Must be able to work a varied schedule including evening, weekends and holidays.-

5% travel may be required.
