Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of experience in investigatory work while employed as a commissioned law enforcement officer plus one of the following: Two years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work or military intelligence work; OR Twelve hours in law enforcement or a criminal justice field. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated. Job Concepts FUNCTION OF WORK: To conduct criminal, administrative, and regulatory investigations; and conduct surveillance of known and suspected criminal targets for purposes of intelligence gathering and investigation. LEVEL OF WORK: Experienced. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General from a Criminal Investigator 4, higher level law enforcement officer. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from other related investigative jobs by specialization intelligence gathering, or assignment to a federal task force with a law enforcement purpose, or assignment to conduct highly sensitive or complex investigations requiring the application of advanced investigative techniques. Differs from the Criminal Investigator 1 by the presence of full performance duties at the experienced level.
