DUTIES: 1. Provide instruction for high school students in a Criminal Justice career and technical program. 2. Implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEP’s) to meet students' needs. 3. Oversee all activities that provide high school students with a hands-on, practical experience in Criminal Justice. 4. Implement curriculum according to New York State secondary school standards and practical applications. 5. Attend faculty and professional development meetings. 6. Arrange for speakers, field trips, community service and shadowing experiences for students. 7. Work in a team environment that fosters the philosophy of collaborative planning and an interdisciplinary approach to learning. 8. Effectively communicate with school staff, parents, districts, and community agencies. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Candidate must possess or be willing to obtain one of the following NYS CTE teacher certifications: a. Security Operations 7-12 b. Law Enforcement Services 7-12 2. Master’s degree and experience in a Criminal Justice field, such as law enforcement for police, courts, or corrections preferred. 3. A strong background in the sciences is preferred. 4. Strong desire to teach high school students. 5. Experience working with students with disabilities preferred. 6. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
