A new, ultramodern intensive care unit (ICU) opened at Sibley Memorial Hospital on Oct. 4, 2023, on the second floor of the main patient tower (Building B). It was designed to provide access to the latest in medical advances, as well as a soothing environment that promotes comfort and healing. The ICU also has best-in-class technology, meeting today’s needs with built-in capabilities to address future needs. The unit is comprised of 14 large private rooms with the capacity to expand to 18.

About this position:

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist – Critical Care is responsible for assisting staff in preparing for contemporary practice and support in acquiring the evidence-based knowledge and skills needed to competently care for tele-ICU acute/critical care patients. She/he facilitates bridging the gap between research and evidence-based practice ensuring quality and safe patient care both directly and indirectly. She/he participates in the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with comprehensive unit-based, specialty-based, and hospital-wide educational needs.

What you will bring:

Licensure as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in the District of Columbia. Master’s degree in nursing or related discipline preferred or must be matriculated into a master’s program within 9 months of employment. Critical Care certification required or obtained within 9 months of employment. At least three years of recent tele/ICU/critical care nursing experience required. Certification in CPR and ACLS required. Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching experienced/inexperienced nursing staff and nursing students.

Salary Range: Minimum $47.93 per hour - Maximum $74.29 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
