Critical Digital Infrastructure Manager (ST Telemedia Global Data Centre Philippines)

Job Description The Critical Digital Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing the full operational management of the data center site, ensuring that all critical infrastructure systems, including power, cooling, and safety systems, are functioning optimally. This role will lead a team to maintain high standards of reliability, uptime, safety, and efficiency while driving initiatives to improve energy efficiency and sustainability. The role will be accountable for ensuring the data center operates 24/7 with zero disruptions, aligning with company goals of operational excellence.

Site Leadership:

Lead the day-to-day operations of the data center, ensuring 100% uptime of critical systems (electrical, mechanical, and building systems).Act as the primary point of contact for all site-related operations, including managing internal teams and external contractors/vendors.Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.

Infrastructure Management:

Oversee the operation and maintenance of critical systems such as UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC systems, fire suppression systems, and building management systems.Conduct regular system checks, preventive maintenance, and real-time troubleshooting to prevent downtime.Lead efforts in optimizing infrastructure performance to achieve cost-effective, energy-efficient, and sustainable operations.

People Management:

Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, ensuring they are trained and ready to respond to any issues.Ensure staff coverage for 24/7 operations, setting up rotation schedules and on-call support.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence within the team.
 

Risk Management & Incident Response:

Develop and enforce risk management protocols to minimize the likelihood of system failures or incidents.Lead the on-site response during emergencies, coordinating with both internal and external teams to ensure a swift resolution and minimal impact on operations.Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery strategies for the site in coordination with corporate policies.

Collaborative Responsibilities

Project Management (in coordination with corporate team):

Work closely with the corporate project management team to plan and execute site-based infrastructure projects, including equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, and facility improvements.Ensure projects are aligned with timelines, budget, and scope while providing regular updates to key stakeholders.Maintain effective communication throughout project execution to ensure smooth delivery.

Vendor & Contractor Management (in coordination with Procurement/Contracts team):

Collaborate with the corporate procurement and legal teams to manage relationships with service providers, utility companies, and contractors.Ensure contracts meet service level agreements (SLAs), and oversee vendor performance to guarantee that work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards.

Sustainability & Energy Efficiency (in coordination with sustainability team):

Lead site-specific initiatives to reduce energy consumption and optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), while coordinating with the sustainability team to align efforts with broader corporate goals.Implement and monitor renewable energy initiatives, ensuring compliance with Renewable Energy Supply (RES) contracts.Track and report carbon footprint data to contribute to the company’s sustainability metrics.

Compliance & Documentation (in coordination with Compliance and Legal teams):

Ensure that the data center meets all regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards, working closely with the corporate compliance and legal departments.Maintain accurate records of operations, incidents, and audits, and support internal audits by providing necessary documentation.

Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field. An MBA is a plus.Experience: 7-10 years of experience managing critical infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally in a high-availability data center or mission-critical environment.Technical Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. Familiarity with industry standards (TIA-942, ASHRAE, ISO 27001).Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills in a high-pressure, 24/7 operational environment.Project Management: Experience managing and delivering complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget.Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with senior leadership, contractors, and internal teams.
