Critical Facility Technician 2
Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a Lead CET and Chief Engineer, interacting with Customer representatives, and any third party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center and to support operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Education Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of experience and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred - Journeyman Electrician License, Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent. Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance, with polygraph.Experience Requirements:
Understand the function, purpose, nominal operating parameters, and how to operate/isolate and start up: MV/LV Distribution Boards, MV/LV Breakers, UPS, Generator, Batteries, STS, ATS, AHU, DX units, Chillers, Evap Washer Systems, CRAC Units, Fuel Systems, BMS System, EPMS System, and Fire Alarm System. Conversant of the BMS and EPMS systems and the impact of any state change, capable of navigating the system, interpreting alarms, and able to perform controlled shutdowns/startups/equipment rotations. Utilizes safe working practices; can apply lockout/tagout, SDS, applies good housekeeping methods, etc. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, mechanical riser drawings, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOP/SOP's. Understands the refrigeration cycles to include: identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Ability to use hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair new or replacement parts for existing units covered under CET1 classified procedures, according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacture's literature, and industry best practices to perform tasks under supervision, and ensures activities are logged in CMMS. Daily walk-through of facility documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc. to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends. Ability to understand site-specific processes and procedures such as how to report an incident or outage, procedure execution, PM standards, CMMS system, as well as the use of SharePoint to access CE procedures and training content. Ability to learn how to access the site primary and secondary EOP's, and understand the purpose of each of the EOP's and the critical nature of being an operator and first responder in the datacenter. Navigate and verify the nominal status of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure via the BMS and EPMS systems, following site MOP & SOP procedures.Abilities:
Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
