Reporting to the Environment & Critical Infrastructures Superintendent, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will lead the critical infrastructure branch of the department for both the Meadowbank and Whale Tail Mine site. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of water and tailings management, stability and safe operations of critical infrastructure, technical planning of the mine reclamation and closure, and implementation of industry best practices. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Efficient operation of the department through supervision of the water management, geotechnical and reclamation team, and the management of consultants for departmental programs and reporting; Ensure compliance of the operation with the protocol and procedure of the OMS manual for water & tailings management infrastructure, following-up on actions for non-conformities; Lead the various technical studies for mine closure and reclamation; Support the required updates to the Closure and Reclamation Plan; Support the implementation of the progressive reclamation activities; Ensure proper document control of the activities under their responsibility; Support all the reporting required in the role (weekly/monthly/annual reports); Coordinate and ensure achievement of the implementation of site-wide best practices in risk management and ensure compliance to standards (Risk Management and Monitoring System (RMMS), Toward Sustainable Mining (TSM), Responsible Gold Mining Principle (RGMP), International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC)…); Ensure liaisons and collaboration with other departments; Lead by example by applying the best leadership and environmental-oriented practices while respecting the Company’s Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment; Participate in risk management evaluations; Assist in budget development and control (variance, forecasts); Assist with the various permitting process, as required; Completion of various other projects assigned by the Environment Superintendent as necessary. *

Schedule\: 3 options suitable for the position\: 7 days of work (on site) and transportation, followed by 7 days of rest, or 10 days of work (on site) and transportation, followed by 10 days of rest, or 14 days of work (on site) and transportation, followed by 14 days of rest. Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering (geological/geotechnical/mining environment) or any other relevant field; 10 years of experience in geotechnical, water management and mine reclamation; 2 years of supervising or leading a multidisciplinary technical team; Arctic experience and mining project experience would also be an asset; Experience working in a multicultural environment; Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team; Adaptability and autonomy competencies; Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
