The Department of Anesthesiology at Catholic Health embraces the anesthesia care team approach to patient care, involving anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and anesthesia technicians. Practicing in a collegial care team model with an attending anesthesiologist, the certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) will perform safe anesthesia care for all types of surgical procedures for patients across the life span and will (consist) of the following: Job Details Evaluates patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulates and carries out an anesthesia care plan including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly. Providing high quality anesthesia care and monitors the patient's physiologic condition as appropriate for the type of anesthesia and specific patient needs. Safely transports patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensures appropriate care during the postoperative period. Participates in post-operative evaluation, care, and follow-up Performs additional related duties as a nurse anesthesia within the NYS scope of practice Requirements: Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA). Masters' Degree in Nursing or related field required. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP or DNAP) preferred. Unencumbered license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse In New York State required. Certified/Recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification by the American Heart Association required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification by the American Heart Association required 1 year of experience as a CRNA preferred.
