JOB SUMMARY: A CRNA is an advanced practice specialty within the profession of nursing responsible for giving total anesthesia care to patients requiring anesthesia services. CRNA practice includes pre-anesthetic evaluation and preparation, anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthetic care, pain management and responding to emergency situations related to airway management and cardiac life support techniques.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs or its predecessor. Current license as Registered Nurse by North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) or current compact state license. Current recognition as a CRNA by NCBON. Current AHA ACLS/BLS/PALS certification. Certification/Recertification by National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Current privileges as a CRNA at CarolinaEast. Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this organization and state. Demonstrates competency in the responsibilities specified in this job description and privileges.
