JOB SUMMARY
The CRO Governance and Regulatory Officer is responsible for the daily execution of CRO Governance and Regulatory functions under the direction of the Chief of Staff to the CRO. Responsibilities include reporting, analyzing, monitoring and evaluating risk information contained across the second line risk management framework in place within the Office of the CRO (“Risk”). The CRO Governance & Regulatory Officer is expected to build and foster relationships, in collaboration with first line employees across the Risk organization in order to help implementing CRO strategy, undertaking special projects for the CRO and Chief of Staff to the CRO as required. The role will be depended upon to provide analytical expertise, communicating compelling and persuasive analysis and challenges concerning matters of heightened focus and escalated risk. Assist in overseeing top Bank priorities such as Regulatory Remediation activities, transformation and integration for the Risk Management Division. Works independently to cover assign projects, provide effective and sustainable solutions for identified areas of improvements, and deliver high quality product.Pay Range: Local Minimum Wage - $0.00 - $0.00
Job Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with Chief of Staff to the CRO on a wide range of projects, processes, and assignments intended to provide support to and gain critical awareness of 2nd line risk functions across the Risk organization.Assists with preparation, development, and progress monitoring of annual strategic goals and objectives set by the Office of the CRO.Leverages technology (i.e. Sharepoint, Tableau, AlphaSense, Database querying) to enhance capabilities of Risk organization and drive forward set governance objectives; develops reports to provide CRO Governance leadership with insight into functional areas within the Risk organization.Conducts market, company, and industry research on specific areas or topics as designated by the Ascertain, summarize, and communicate actionable insights pertinent to the Risk organization and Bank at large.Stays abreast of, and communicates, relevant aspects of regulatory guidance for consideration across the risk organization.Assists with the development, maintenance, and compliance of delegations of authority across the CRO organization.Leads projects and governance activities both within the Risk organization and with key personnel across departments. Enables wider engagement and coverage by CRO leadership of projects and workstreams by attending internal and external meetings on behalf of the Chief of Staff to the; relays important information and conducts minute taking as necessary.Provides supervision and governance around key projects within the CRO organization to ensure completion within defined timelines, budget levels, and quality standards.Assists with development of budgets across the CRO organization in order to affect a consistent approach in resource allocation, consultant or external spending, staff training and development, and other critical departmental functions.Assists with ongoing maintenance and development of Risk organization policies and procedures, ensuring consistency of approach, clarifying CRO policy requirements, and monitoring for compliance.Identifies potential areas of emerging risk, as well as gaps in risk reporting, in order to improve overall risk monitoring activities performed by the Office of the CRO; works with relevant stakeholders to implement identified improvement opportunities.Oversees top Bank priorities within Risk Management Division and provides an independent analysisEnsures Direct Reports to the CRO deliver high quality requested materials by the CRO timelyEdits and provides essential feedback for the materials delivered to the Management Committees, Board and Regulators.ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform special projects and take on additional duties and responsibilities as determined by Chief of Staff to the CRO.Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.Minimum experience required: 8+ Years banking, legal or regulatory experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in risk management, regulatory or legal preferred.Job Competencies:
Advanced computer skills with proficiency in a wide range of analytical software and systems, spreadsheet and database applications, and visualization tools, with high level of attention to detail and focus on redundancy elimination/process improvement via automation.A keen desire to conduct research and analysis to build strong foundational knowledge in a range of risk management disciplines.Knowledge of banking operations and solid understanding of internal controls.Knowledge of banking regulations and application of methodologies for achieving regulatory compliance.Knowledge of risk management and/or internal audit practices.Working knowledge of financial products and services offered to retail and commercial clients, and utilized internally for balance sheet management and investment purposes.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, facilitating change through effective liaison with and influence of business process owners, senior level management, auditors, and regulators.Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills required.Strong analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills.Strong control and escalation mentality with ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.Flagstar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
