The Crop Division of Great American has been helping generations of farmers take control of their risk since 1915. The Division is also one of the select few private companies authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (USDA RMA) to write MPCI policies. With six regional offices throughout the U.S., the team provide tremendous expertise in the specific needs of farmers and crops.

Our Crop Division is looking for an Underwriting Operations Leader. This individual will be based out of our Cincinnati, OH headquarters.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage Divisional Underwriting team operations – driving the optimization of workflows and ensuring high productivity throughout the department.

Accountable for developing and implementing strategic plans for the Underwriting team to ensure alignment with Divisional goals and objectives.

Manage the quality and volume of underwriting risks and procedures, while identifying strategic improvements and risk mitigation opportunities.

Leverage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive and sustain profitable growth.

Manage and provides oversight to the delivery of exceptional customer service by developing and monitoring management reports on service levels, activities, and customer experiences while implementing strategic improvements as necessary.

Provide tactical leadership to the regional underwriting team regarding policy interpretation and the application of crop insurance laws and regulations.

Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.

Participate in Divisional planning goals, strategies, and operating methodologies. Manages Department to pre-established budget guidelines and performance targets.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture or related field preferred.

Generally, minimum of 10 years of crop insurance or P&C underwriting experience.

Previous experience managing a team is required.

Must have strong communication and organizational skills.

Must be open to travel as needed.
