Jacobs is seeking an Cross Contamination Coordinator, based in Rio Rancho, NM. In this position you will be responsible for the field implementation of water cross connection, backflow prevention and domestic well programs to ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the City’s cross connection control and backflow prevention programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures and processes.
• Maintain computerized database of backflow assembly owners; generate reports relating to inspecting, testing and repair of devices. Add new Backflows to the database when applications are submitted and issue new certifications when needed
• Review, identify and inspect all new commercial plans submitted to the city to ensure requisite backflow devices are included.
• Send monthly backflow testing letters to all businesses for annual backflow testing due dates
• Record all backflow tests submitted into city database
• Send letters of notification to businesses in violation of city ordinance
• Notify City of Rio Rancho and the Rio Rancho schools when annual tests are due
• Add new Backflow Testers into city database when applications are submitted and send testers new certification cards
• Inspect, document and photograph newly installed backflow devices after construction completed
• Ensure backflow tests are properly performed, submitted and entered into city database
• Coordinate contractor backflow testing cost proposals for annual backflow testing at City Water and Wastewater facilities
• Submit request for a city Purchase Order (PO)
• Upon PO approval, ensure backflow testing is completed and submit invoice from contractor for payment to city finance department
• Maintain and oversee the City of Rio Rancho Domestic Well Program activities
• Process all private well permits for residences not connected to city water
• Visit domestic well sites and ensure all necessary paperwork is submitted
• Upon completion of a newly installed well, inspect the site and enter the well coordinates into the city GIS system (using a city app)
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with City personnel and customers
• Performs other duties as required applicable to this job position
• Highschool Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• 3-year minimum experience with cross connection programs, domestic wells, and backflow prevention systems
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form and maintain historical records and filing
• Digital literacy using Swift Comply, CMMS programs and other various online dashboards
• Use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Possess a valid New Mexico driver’s license
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
• 5-year minimum experience with cross connection programs
• Backflow Prevention certified
• Bachelor degree in science, chemistry, biology or equivalent in related field
• Proficient use of cross connection software, platforms or other related technologies

The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
