The Opportunity
This Cross-Portfolio Philanthropy Lead will oversee highly visible health equity grant-making projects among Genentech’s patients and caregivers through landscape assessment and strategic development of grantmaking activation across all geographies.
● Provide thought-partnership and strategic expertise to ecosystems on establishing long-term, trusting relationships with local and state-based patient care organizations.
● Identifying key local and regional advocacy partners for Genentech’s policy and advocacy efforts in concert with Public Affairs and Access teams.
This role focuses on cross-portfolio and Planned Giving grantmaking, activation and oversight, budget oversight, and impact measurement.
This role is based out of our South San Francisco Office but may consider remote options

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Align Strategic Direction: Ensure cross-portfolio giving strategies align with the broader OnePharma strategy, CMG strategic and GNE business priorities, and yield high-impact grant partnerships.
Identify Strategic Philanthropic Investment Opportunities: Build, cultivate, and maintain strategic partnerships with philanthropic organizations, non-profits, health care systems, medical societies, and private sector entities that advance new grantmaking program exploration.
Coordinate Internal Stakeholder Management: Design highly visible strategic cross-portfolio grantmaking portfolios to align with GNE business priorities.
Develop Measurement Strategy & SOPs: Establish an impact measurement strategy for cross-portfolio grants and create standard operating procedures to pull through impact measurement data.
Ensure Compliance: Work alongside HCO to develop and implement compliance to understand the risk profile of the cross-portfolio grant-making portfolio and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
Provide Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert within GNE on grant application creation. Maintain scientific knowledge of Genentech’s therapeutic portfolio, including clinical study outcomes.
Workstream Management: Manage all aspects of cross-portfolio philanthropy workstream, including measurement, budget, and internal/external communications. Collaborate with the Head of GSI to understand near- and long-term projects across External Affairs
External Presence: Represent Genentech at medical societies and patient conferences, conduct one-on-one meetings, and speak from the main stage to amplify GNE’s reputation

Required Qualifications:
You have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 years of related/relevant experience;
Subject matter expertise (9-12 years) in corporate philanthropy and strategic grantmaking with 501c3 entities.
Proven track record of building partnerships between biotech/pharmaceutical companies, patient advocacy groups, community-based organizations, medical societies, and other not-for-profit organizations.
Nonprofit organizations, medical societies, and government agencies to advance a shared mission
Proven ability to shape strategy, anticipating challenges and opportunities. Demonstrated relationship advancement with external stakeholders over multiple years
Deep fluency in business priorities and is considered a critical partner in advancing relevant enterprise objectives through philanthropic investments.
Experience managing vendors (e.g., strategic consulting, communications, evaluation), complex projects, and large-scale budgets
Leads with integrity and passion for goals that drive Genentech’s corporate philanthropy mission and vision to deliver the greatest impact to patients.
Experience working effectively in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments
Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree with 8 years of equivalent work experience.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California $160,720/yr to $298,480/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
