Job Description

The Position

Single particle analysis is a group of related computerized image processing techniques used to analyze images from transmission electron microscopy. These methods were developed to improve and extend the information obtainable from TEM images of particulate samples, typically proteins or other large biological entities such as viruses. Such imaging were crucial e.g., to the development of a Covid vaccine.

We are looking for an intern with strong mathematics and physics skills to work in our team on the next generation of the imaging technology!

Key responsibilities include, but are not exclusively:

Working in compliance with legislation and IMS (required for all)Participate as an intern in development projects within Thermo Fisher or with partnersThe work will include:Theoretical analysis and simulation in the area of electron matter interaction, diffraction and tomographyAssisting in the development of (sub)system designs within the area of expertise, in multidisciplinary teams focusing on protein imaging in atomic scaleAssisting in simulation, data-processing and software development as requiredReconstruction algorithm development and testing based on inhouse and 3rd party SW solutionsCommunication and documentation of your own work through presentations and reportsGrow your technical knowledge in innovative principles and theories relevant to your area of expertise

Requirements:

University student (bachelor’s or master’s) or doctoral candidate in physics or mathematics or computer scienceGeneral technical knowledge, understanding of applied physics, mathematics, and programming (in Python language)Good command of English (or Norwegian
