YAG Growth Technician is a hands-on technical manufacturing position, with broad responsibility as “owner-operator” of our state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. The YAG Growth Technician performs basic maintenance and preventive maintenance functions on various types of the YAG Growth and facility equipment. As an experienced crystal grower, the incumbent will provide training and guidance to junior level personnel, including checking builds, approving setups, and verifying that charges meet specifications. The incumbent is expected to complete duties with minimal guidance or supervision, and to take the initiative in providing support and assistance to other YAG Growth Team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare raw materials, seeds, and hot zone components for crystal growth Log process data into run sheets and crystal growth database. Evaluate and characterize final product Participate in the equipment maintenance programs Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions Support engineering activities in process improvements Work safely under strict safety guidelines in a controlled environment Function within a team environment: communicate, collaborate, and interact across manufacturing operations and R&D Maintain order and cleanliness in the crystal growth and charge preparation areasExperience Required
Eight or more years of experience in crystal growth or similar materials manufacturing environment required Proven ability to understand and accurately follow complex manufacturing procedures and adhere to safety requirements. Must be computer literate and capable of working with documents in a Microsoft Office environment or similar. Strong fine manipulation: good hand-eye coordination for careful adjustments to delicate items / componentsDesired Qualifications:
Technical Associates degree Previous experience in high temperature processes, such as glass Familiarity with bulk crystal growth techniques Ability to read electrical diagrams Strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectivity with coworkers of varying technical levels such as engineers, technicians, supervisors, managers, etc. Strong attention to detail
