CS/SPD Quality Assurance Coordinator - South Submarket

As CS/SPD Quality Assurance Coordinator, your work focuses on developing, implementing and monitoring quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices and internal policies within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). In this role, you will uphold the exceptional standard of Cleveland Clinic services and products while collaborating with fellow staff to promote a culture of excellence dedicated to ongoing and advancement. In the end, your tireless efforts help facilitate the safe, sterile and reliable environment our patients have come to expect, allowing you to positively influence our ability to continue pushing the needle forward in comprehensive healthcare. **A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 4:30PM, with local travel (Akron, Canton, Medina and Union) requirements as needed.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform random quality assurance checks on case carts, pick tickets, trays post-wash/post-assembly, department quality assurance monitoring or other areas as needed. + Audit internal processes, including tray assembly, decontamination, shift handoffs, case cart completion and standard work compliance. + Report and communicate quality improvement opportunities to leadership team and participate in collaborative problem solving. + Provide real time feedback from audit activity to leadership team and staff. + Review quality issues, standards and guidelines (e.g., AORN/AAMI) related to Sterile Processing and educate staff accordingly. + Manage and ensure the quality of documentation, including control, retention and archival, to support compliance efforts. + Monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), conduct investigations and escalate/close cases as appropriate. + Serve as a resource for SPD managerial staff and clinical departments to address quality-related concerns and promote best practices. + Track and report on quality metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement. + Participate in regulatory audits and prepare the department for internal and external inspections. + Participate in the development and maintenance of standard work, including change notices and revision history. + Monitor current metrics and analyze results to identify trends and analyze data to identify root cases of operational concerns. + Assist with identification of staff educational needs and development of programs designed for the implementation of newly acquired instrumentation and sterilization processes. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma/GED + Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST/CSPDT) + Sterile Processing Certification (CFER/CER) within 18 months of hire + Three to five years of experience in Central Service/Sterile Processing areas + Completion of a recognized training program with certification in Central Service/Sterile Processing + Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads and related tasks + Basic computer skills Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
