Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor full-time, 9-month tenure track position beginning August 2025. Desired applicants will present expertise in one or more of the following areas: adult neurogenic disorders, AAC, motor speech disorders, speech science, dysphagia, and voice/velopharyngeal disorders. Successful candidates will provide high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates will be expected to establish a research program in their area of expertise and disseminate research findings in various formats including national/international conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Opportunities for clinical supervision and summer instruction are likely.

The Department of CSD at FAU offers an accredited Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology and also provides prerequisite coursework. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with other colleges and departments (e.g., Engineering and Medicine) and on-campus programs/centers (e.g., university lab schools, Memory and Wellness Center, Brain Institute).

Successful candidates may be eligible for an appointment at the FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute (FAU | Florida Atlantic Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute). The institute supports neuroscience research, education, and community engagement programs across multiple FAU campuses and colleges. Faculty members qualify for pilot grants, graduate student fellowships, research technology support, and subsidized use of Institute Core facilities including the FAU Cell Imaging Core and Neurobehavior Core. Members pursue research across the full spectrum of neuroscience, ranging from genetic and molecular neuroscience, cellular and circuit analysis of brain function, behavioral studies in models and man, cognitive and computational neuroscience, disease mechanism, and treatment studies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP, eligibility for Florida State licensure, and earned doctorate in CSD or a related field by August 1, 2025.

Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
