The CSM-STAND intern will work with Pact’s Governance team on communications and thought leadership products, as well as providing administrative support for the CSM-STAND Leader Award’s monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting. This internship is designed for students exploring career paths outside academia, to familiarize them with the practitioner world and provide mentorship and support in developing skills valued in the international development sector. The intern will support the communication of evidence about civil society and media interventions across different geographies and to different audiences. Valuable skills include data visualization, qualitative analysis, advanced database software or programming skills, foreign language proficiency, teaching and public speaking, and knowledge management.
Key ResponsibilitiesSocial science communication
Research and write practitioner-friendly newsletter items and blog posts on topics related to the CSM-STAND Learning Agenda and related Governance thought leadership topicsCombine data, graphics, and narrative to report on the CSM-STAND portfolio of programs (requires PowerBI); writing reports and making presentations for the donor based on this dataConduct an in-depth investigation into one of the CSM-STAND programs, documenting its contributions to one or more changes in its context, writing up the case study, and developing a presentation on lessons learned for other programsData management
Maintain and update CSM-STAND databases (in Airtable PowerBI) and SharePoint sites Document processes for data and knowledge management, and create new processes for qualitative data management and analysis (in MaxQDA)

Support event planning for public for roundtables or brownbag discussion on CSM-STAND technical products, thought leadership, and learning for donor and partner auidencesPrepare and give a presentation on your dissertation research for a practitioner audience Basic Requirements Social science masters degree or bachelors degree with 2+ years of relevant experienceResearch experience in international development and/or foreign affairsTeaching or adult education experience Experience with qualitative research and data collection methodsVery strong writing and presentation skills, and a desire to improveIntermediate or advanced knowledge of Excel and Word (finalists will be tested) Previous experience working or volunteering with civil society organizations Familiarity with USAID-funded international development programs Preferred Qualifications At the dissertation phase of a Ph.D. programProficiency in Arabic, French, Nepalese, Sinhala, Spanish, or Tamil is a plusExperience organizing conferences or managing professional associations or student groups desiredIntermediate level programming languages, graphic design, statistical and/or qualitative software is a plus
The salary for this position is determined based on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to an individuals skill sets, experience, training, certifications, education, as well as business needs and internal equity. At Pact, employees are typically not hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are made based on the aforementioned circumstances. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $22-24/hr.
