Corning Shared Services (CSS) supports Corning’s global operations and delivers profitable growth through evolving processes, ensuring compliance, and executing vital transactions.  The CSS Manager I, CTR, NA will be responsible for leading the Close-to-Report team in day-to-day and month end closing transactions.  This person must be process and controls oriented, open minded, continuous improvement focused, and able to motivate the team for a high level of performance.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Supervision of CTR team in conjunction with Deputy Operations Manager Responsible for various accounting processes that are part of the accounting close, resulting in consolidated financial statements Allocations Eliminations (Intercompany Accounting Process) Equitization STATS Divestitures and Acquisitions Review and approval of all necessary journal entries, including ASC-815 MTM adjustments, FX hedging settlements, business adjustments, and certain cash transactions. Coordinate with ACR, FP&A and Tax on Day 5 and 6 closing schedule and processes Perform necessary review and analysis of consolidated financial statements to ensure integrity and correctness Liaison with ACR during Mergers and Acquisitions to ensure GAAP accounting is followed Assist with various complex accounting tasks as needed including account reconciliations, analysis, and journal entry preparation as required Provide support for ongoing audit requirements including quarterly and annual internal and external compliance audits. Implement process improvements that contribute to increased efficiency and controls Evaluate, recommend, and implement process changes required to maintain account reconciliations and to improve reconciliation controls Prioritize ongoing tasks, project work, and other initiatives, for self and team. Apply accounting knowledge, Excel skills, and PeopleSoft General Ledger skills to resolve problems and identify improvement opportunities Support/supervise/mentor the CTR NAFTA FRP Analyst position Ensures a strong accounting team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining CTR team members; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures. Monitors operation effectiveness using KPI’s and dashboards, determining organizational health and readiness Maintains strong accounting controls by complying with established RCM’s, process narratives and accounting principles Provides guidance to other CSS teams in the area of compliance, control and SOXs Ensures team training plans and proper SOPs exist to maintain continuity of processes during periods of team transition and change Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential. Assists in development and implementation of new procedures, processes and automations to enhance the workflow of the department. - Champions the CSS 2025 Vision o Always be ready to support Corning’s evolving businesses o Eliminate 100% manual processing of today’s standard service transactions o Be a thought leader in digital transformation leading with DSaaS – in and out of Corning o Challenge and lead team to identify, implement, and adopt digital and PEx solutions including RPA, Macros, and other Digital Operations capabilities to achieve increased efficiencies and effectiveness

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance Minimum 3+ years’ experience in accounting/finance CPA preferred, but not required Experience in working with multiple legal entities and group consolidation Experience with financial reporting requirements PeopleSoft, SAP ECC, and SAP S4Hana ERP knowledge
