CT Associate Legal Counsel
UMB’s Corporate Trust team offers a variety of trust services to the structured finance world. We work with customers based across the world in the capacity as trustee, escrow agent, custodian, collateral agent or administrative agent. Our team supports UMB by bringing in direct revenue to the bank in the way of fee revenue and interest income. We offer a niche product and service offering and our team is known around the world as one of a few specialty trust departments that can onboard and administer this unique group of products. The Associate Legal Counsel role works to reduce risk associated with Corporate Trust transactions by reviewing relevant transaction documentation and providing suggested changes to the documentation necessary to protect Corporate Trust's interests. In this position you will review and comment on complex structured trust finance documents, escrow agreements and other transaction documentation. You will also advise administrators on post-closing extraordinary administrative duties of a legal nature and maintain expertise and advise Compliance Officer and Corporate Trust Administrators regarding risk & compliance matters. The legal counsel role will advise the Corporate Trust department on various legal issues and stay current on legal and compliance issues that may impact the Corporate Trust department. You will oversee and maintain relationships with transaction counsel in conjunction with Sales and Management, visit clients and attend industry conferences, all while working closely with Relationship Managers and Management on ensuring smooth transaction closings. This role will stay active in the life of the trust transactions, assisting with any changes made to the transactions. Teamwork is key to our success!
