Summary
The CT Scan Technician is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the CT department and throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
+ Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and by the identification band on in-patients
+ Use schedule to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and schedule add-ons
+ Produce high quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique
+ Proficiently use scanners and laser printers
+ Follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards
+ Work closely with the radiology nurse and the radiologist when performing biopsy and drainage procedures
+ Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions
+ Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA"
+ Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
+ Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor
+ Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits
+ Educate patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome
+ Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
+ Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services
+ Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care

Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Successful completion of a Radiologic Technology program
Preferred Education: Not applicable
Experience: Previous experience as a Registered Technologist is preferred, but will consider new graduates
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Applicant must be ARRT registered.
