Job Summary
Providing clearly defined Computed Tomographic (CT) studies for use by the Radiologist in the diagnosis of patient illness.
Responsibilities
• Perform CT procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. • Perform variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative for the Radiologists CT diagnosis. • Obtain the patient's medical history relevant to CT exam. • Transfer and position patients, providing immobilization devices as required before injection. Prepare and administer contrast media to ensure quality CT studies. • Responsible for ensuring that consent for contrast media is available before injection. Prepare and administer contrast media to patients. • Operate equipment for quality CT scans, providing protection in accordance with prescribed standards. Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the CT Scanner. • Process film in a timely and effective manner. Responsible for documenting records. • Develop a plan of care to meet the diagnostic needs of the patient and coordinates procedures, which requires communication with other departments, nursing units, physicians, and visitors. • Assist the Radiologist with certain examinations. Prepare and administer radio opaque contract for certain types of examinations. • Practice sterile techniques. Ensure order and cleanliness in assigned work areas, reporting any unsafe conditions. • Instruct student technologists in clinical training. Demonstrate the operation of the CT equipment to student technologists, demonstrating and explaining examinations. • Provide radiation education and safety to patients, visitors, physicians, and other staff. • Handle equipment service and preventative maintenance directly with the service company. • Attend meetings and seminars to maintain current knowledge and skills.
