The primary purpose of this position is to complete and coordinate CT examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and the workflow management of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Identifies each patient and reviews each physician order for consistency of exam ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
Documents patient identification utilizing name and D.O.B. in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. Always records pertinent data (patient history, explanation of limited examination, etc.). Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease process to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, physicians and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through careful history, allergy and renal function documentation, reconciling medications with the supervising physician, proper use of support/immobilization devices, and proper transport/transfer technique with regard given to the age of the patient. Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examinations to interpreting physician, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure. Assists in the administration and administers various chemical substances to render specific organs or systems opaque. Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper identification on all images. CT Technologists who inject contrast material have access to these contrast agents. Demonstrates and exhibits knowledge of radiation safety practices, utilizes ALARA and can provide radiation safety information. Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the department, O.R. and at the bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high quality images using ALARA standards. Utilizes Image Wisely and Image Gently principles. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital-related information. Schedules same day add-on appointments and maintains outpatient schedule as much as is possible, while prioritizing emergency and STAT patients. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department team to facilitate the ability to meet goals and objectives. Assists with examinations of higher complexity and interventional procedures. Participates in the orientation and training of new employees and health care professionals. Provides direct training and supervision to student technologists. Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and code of conduct. Demonstrates, creates, and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation and provides care that consistently complies with the Aultman Corporate Service Standards and high reliability culture. Manages time wisely and seeks assignments when duties are completed. Represents the hospital by volunteering for community activities which may include participation at community events, activities or on local boards. Seeks opportunities for involvement and participates in hospital based committees. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Day, afternoon and midnight hours are staffed for CT. Rotation on several shifts is a possibility. Holiday rotations are necessary. C = Constantly = 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
